Internet is required for a number of reasons. The rationale is simple, and that is because without the internet, these features will simply not work. This won’t be an issue as I will have both a FiOS?, and satellite internet for connectivity. The network server will support 2 WAN? ports for these connections, so that would not be an issue to deal with.
Obviously, internet is used for communication. I will have an email? account, and multiple websites that I manage. All of these resources requires the internet for me to access. If I was to receive a metering service, then internet is required for my funds pool to be deducted anytime I will print an envelope out for mailing.
Internet is required for the in-ground radiant heating system. When it is below freezing, and precipitation is called for, the heating system will bring the sidewalk temperature to 54°F (12°C). This will melt the snow and ice even before they can stick – therefore keeping the sidewalk clean and clear of anything that might cause a slip and fall. This will be essential, and might even reduce the home insurance bill as it is a safety feature.
Second is for backup. There will be NAS?s that would provide for storage to the entire family. However, I will want these NAS systems to back themselves up. If I have another property, I will be able to connect the backup NAS within the communications room, and these systems will offer a means of access if the primary NAS is down for whatever the reason. If I don’t have a second property, then this will not be an option.
Last will be telephony communications. All home lines will require a SIP? provider to make and receive telephone calls or faxes. Assuming that I live by myself, there will be 1 telephone line, and 1 fax line. When the call has something to do with the home, I will use the home phone line. Assuming that I was able to acquire my Ideal Phone Setup, my 412 number will be with a SIP provider rather than the state as a cellular phone line that it is now.
