Why No Gas?

There is no gas line inside the building. It has been capped at the source which forces everything to electric. Gas has been used for cooking, heating, and hot water – all of which can be done with electric. Gas is a finite resource, and will start to get more expensive as time goes on. While I would be confident that I could afford a gas bill, it doesn’t make any sense to have a gas bill if electric does everything, and I have solar panels on the roof. The only value I would have seen with gas is a gas fireplace, but that would have required a chimney, and that is a way for hot air to escape.

Not only is gas finite, and expensive – but it also contributes to climate change. And yes, I am someone that believes in climate change. With that said, I want to do my part to reduce my carbon footprint. This is why my solar panels have sun tracking features. This is why I would choose a like minded supplier. All of my appliances, and lights will be energy efficient. Quality insulation to reduce the demand of heating and AC. All of these reduces the carbon footprint. And while I might have a gas powered vehicle, this will be due to the choice I will make, and not because I feel I need to. However, an electric vehicle will have extra points for me.

Gas is also explosive. This will destroy not only the building, but neighboring buildings. And with all buildings being connected to each other, there is a chance that the fires can spread even further. We need an electric bill. Gas was a necessary evil at one time, but technology allows for electric to take over. Since the gas line has been capped at the source, I don’t have a choice of turning on the gas line. This will also include anyone that would receive the building after me.
