Floor 4

The fourth floor will be the living spaces of my residence. This will include a great room, kitchen, office, lavatory, and outdoor space. As with all of the floors, there will be a Wifi Access Point, however there will be another access point for the outdoor space. This will allow one to be productive, or entertained while spending time outside.

The great room will have a TV above the mantle which will have an electric fireplace. Behind the TV will be shelves for things that can hide behind the TV, and on one side, there will be shelves for other items such as a game system (or two). Since there is no actual chimney, the communications lines can run along side of the fireplace, and offer a channel for connections to the TV, and communications room. Next to the couch, there will be a Grandstream WP815 Wifi phone. This phone will be used as the residence phone. If I was to have a family, this will be the family phone. This phone will be used when ordering a pizza, or contacting someone on behalf of the residence. This number will be used for both voice calls, and will be the phone that will ring when a visitor rings my door intercom.

The lavatory will sit on the wall across from the kitchen. This will allow me and any family/guests to use the “bathroom” without the need to go to the 3rd floor to use the bathroom. They will simply enter the lavatory, and do what they need to do. The lavatory will have a toilet/sink combination, and designed to take as little space as possible. This is intended to reduce the demand to the 3rd floor, and allow guests to have somewhere they can go.

Across from the lavatory will be the kitchen. The refrigerator will have an ice/water dispenser. This will obviously have benefits since cold water will fill up in a cup or bottle. This will eliminate my need to store gallons of water in jugs taking up valuable space in the refrigerator. The refrigerator will be a smart refrigerator, and connect to an RJ45 jack behind the refrigerator. This will allow smart features in case they are used. There will be a camera in the refrigerator so I could see what’s in the refrigerator without opening it. This will reduce the number of times that the refrigerator will open – therefore conserving electricity. Next to the refrigerator will be the stove. I will have an induction stove which is safer, and more efficient to use. Obviously, there will be the oven, and above the stove will be a microwave oven. There will be a double tub sink with a food waste disposal unit that would be used every 3 days. There will also be space for a coffee maker. Since I am not a cook, the space for the kitchen will be minimal. Next to the kitchen will be a laundry room with a washer/dryer combination. The laundry machine will be ventless. This will be the same style as the rental unit, and will take longer to dry, but there will be no need for a vent stack.

Adjacent to the kitchen will be a spiral stair case to go down to the 3rd floor. If there was a need to move furniture, then the elevator will be used. This will allow the family to use the stairs to go in between the rooms. It will also allow a channel to move communication lines in the center of the stairwell. The elevator will be on the other side of the stairwell to provide for means of traversing the floors if the stairs is not a viable option.

Across from the kitchen will be the home office. On the far side wall will be a desk with 4 RJ45 jacks in the walls. The desk will be an L shape desk. The computer will sit on the long end, and the printer will sit on the short end. Ethernet lines from the computer, printer, and fax ATA will be located here. The printer will plug into the network, and the fax line will plug into an ATA which will plug into an RJ45 jack. This fax line will be the 724 number as mentioned in my Ideal Phone Setup. If the residence needs to rely on a fax line, then the printer in the library will support fax, which will be connected to a unique ATA. Each wall will have 4 RJ45 jacks towards the center of that wall to allow for other configurations. Since there will be a NAS server, there will likely be no need to attach a NAS to the home network.

Down the hall will be a door to connect with the 625sf outdoor space. This is to allow for fresh air to be available to myself, and if future allows – a family. The outdoor space will be a small sacrifice, and something I willing to take. The outdoor space will also have an outdoor access point to allow for connectivity even while outdoors. There will be walls on 3 sides, and a railing on the 4th wall. This will allow for a safe, and secured access to the outdoor space.
