Cent-Vac

Cent-Vac (Central Vacuum) is a process of running PVC tubes through the building to allow one to sweep dirt and dust into what might look like a heating vent. It would be turned on when you are ready for the system to suck the debris. To make the best of this to work, there will be no carpeting on the floor. If there was carpeting, then there will be little need for a cent-vac system.

Every 6 months, I will empty the vacuum system, and replace the bag. This will take about 10 minutes to do. I will also change the filter if it needs to be changed. At this time, I will need to turn the system off to do the maintenance of the system. This will likely not mean anything since I live by myself. I will just do the maintenance of the cent-vac system, and go back to doing what needs to be done. I will likely do this in the morning when the system is less likely to run, therefore keeping the interruption of service to a minimum.

If I was to have a tenant on the 2nd floor, they will also have a cent-vac system in their unit. As mentioned above, one just needs a broom to clean their floors. Every wall of every room (except bathrooms, kitchen, and lavatory) will have systems in place. This will assure you don’t have to sweep the dirt and dust to the other side of the room to use the cent-vac.
